I Can Already Give First Aid to a Dog

Can You?

In Poland, over 6 million dogs live without access to basic medical aid in life-threatening situations. Many of them die.

Most towns lack 24-hour veterinary clinics, and even in large cities, such facilities are scarce.

In crisis situations like traffic accidents, choking, poisoning, or sudden illness, the time it takes to provide first aid is critical for a dog’s survival.

The “RatujPsa.pl” project aims to equip students with knowledge and practical skills, enabling them to consciously and effectively administer first aid in emergencies.

We are implementing this project in collaboration with the Department of Education in Wrocław and the University of Environmental and Life Sciences.

Project Goals

Education and Awareness: Increasing awareness among youth and adults about responsible pet care.

Practical Skills: Teaching participants practical first aid skills for dogs that can save their lives in emergency situations.

Building Empathy and Responsibility: Cultivating empathy, responsibility, and care for animals.

Every dog sees their owner as a superhero, always ready to act. But in critical situations, do you know how to respond to help your furry friend?

The ability to give first aid is a real superpower – and that’s exactly what we share during our training sessions. Join the RatujPsa.pl project and help us build the Dog Heroes League. You, too, can become a superhero – your dog is counting on you!

Gain Knowledge and Practical Skills. Workshops are led by specialists in veterinary medicine and behavior.

The workshops include:

Recognizing life-threatening conditions in dogs, such as breathing difficulties, sudden loss of consciousness, or signs of poisoning.

Responding to emergency situations, such as bites, injuries caused by accidents, burns, or poisoning from chemicals or plants.

Techniques for providing first aid, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for dogs, wound dressing, and immobilizing limbs in case of fractures.

Basics of communicating with a stressed dog, including how to approach an animal in distress to avoid increasing its fear, facilitate providing help, and ensure your own safety.

Knowledge about basic first aid tools, such as animal first aid kits, and how to use household items effectively.
